Officer Team of the Year

Officer Team of the Year

2016-2017

Dudley's nomination showed that effective officer teams don't have to have shared experiences or shared political views to be hugely effective and to put students at the heart of their work.

The panel really loved the honestly in sharing how they came together and worked through their objectives for the year; how they have respected each other's views and how they then organised themselves to deliver on some projects that have had a real impact on their students; particularly around mental health and sexual health services.

They have used their team's diversity to harness great change for their members!

2015-2016

Sophia (Student Development Officer) was shocked and delighted that students and collegues had taken the time to nominate her for the NUS staff achievement award. The award highlights the most dedicated and productive staff members working with Students' Unions.

Although she didn't pick up the top prize, to be shortlisted was an amazing achievement. What the judges said: ‘Sophia has shown her dedication and commitment to the student she works with, going the extra mile working weekends to help facilitate and support the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.

She has facilitated numerous activities and events around mental health and with student with learning difficulties and disabilities, sacrificing her own time for others. Sophia should be seen as a shining model of excellence and inspiration.’

Dudley College President, Kim Hughes, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that the Students’ Union and I won. We have had a fantastic year even in light of the challenges that we have faced. The executive team worked extremely hard and were absolutely inspirational; this motivated me to continually strive to do more for the Union.

At the heart of all we do are the students and I know none of this would have been possible without them. These awards were down to them, they are the real winners.”
