Helen Lawley (She/Her)
Student Governor & Dudley Students' Union President
Hello guys, my name is Helen Lawley and I am your current Students' Union President. I had been active in the SU for over 2 years before deciding to stand as President.
I initially joined the SU leadership and management team as the Vice President of Welfare and in the following year was one for the student governors. During this time, I also co-founded the disability committee and joined the mental health ambassadors project.
I am a return to learn mature student and most recently completed level 3 Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair at Wolverhampton Street Motor Vehicle campus. I am a keen advocate of those with disabilities and suffer myself with an invisible disability, but I don’t let it stop me!
Having won the election during an unprecedented time in the worlds history, Covid a global pandemic, I’ve had to adapt my priorities as a President accordingly. My focus has really been on ensuring students felt supported and part of a community whilst on lockdown and isolated. Also I’ve worked with the college to ensure students have received consistent and supportive messaging.
Few other things - I have an interest in travelling, Motorbikes, and living life to the full!
